Easy Side Recipes: Lyonnaise Potatoes Recipe

Cooking Method: Saute
Servings: 2 servings
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
2 pcs potatoes
1 small white onion, sliced
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 tbsp parsley, chopped

Cooking Directions:
1. In a pot, add potatoes in cold water and bring to a boil.
2. When potatoes are cooked, peel and slice into thick medallions. Set aside.
3. In a pan, add half the oil/butter and saute onions. Once cooked, remove onions from the pan and set aside.
4. Add remaining butter in the pan and throw in the potatoes. Brown potatoes lightly on each side.
5. Bring back the onions into the pan and season with salt and pepper.
6. Garnish with parsley

Cooking tips:
1. Do not overcook the potatoes. If you overcook the potatoes, they will easily break when you saute them.

Now, isn’t that easy?

I Cook Around the World: Cooking Class Barcelona, Spain

Cooking Classes Barcelona Spain

Cooking Classes in Barcelona, Spain

This is a long overdue post! But I wanted to make sure I make a wonderful post because I really enjoyed this experience.

I Cook Around the World

I can’t say I’m a travel bug, but I’ve been to several tourist destinations and I see myself traveling a lot more in the future.  Knowing I’d be up and about, I decided on a new personal project: I Cook Around the World.

My plan is to attend a cooking class whenever I travel abroad. The idea is to learn about a country’s culture through their food. The upside to this is that you get also get to eat and learn how to cook!

Once I’ve taken several classes, I’ll turn them into my very own cook book!  This is going to be exciting!

My first stop for this project, Bacelona, Spain.

Healthy Recipes: Hearty Noodle Soup Recipe

It’s the rainy season again and in this weather, a lot of people get sick.
The past week, my whole family caught a virus. Everybody was coughing and had the colds.

To help warm ourselves while it rained outside, I prepared this hearty noodle soup.

Addicted to Nespresso: Nespresso Lattissima+ (Plus) Review

A few weeks ago, a received an email from Nespresso saying that the Latissima+ is now available in Singapore. I was actually excited even though I’ve had my Nespresso Lattissima+ for about half a year now.

I got my Nespresso Lattissima+ machine in Sydney, Australia. This machine has been out in other countries for quite a while now. However, it’s only been made available in Singapore recently.

You probably know by now that I’m addicted to Nespresso.  Since I love my Nespresso Lattissima+ (Plus) so much, I decided to make a review.

I Run Around the World: Running Routes in Barcelona, Spain

I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Barcelona, Spain. It’s a very beautiful city! It hardly has any skyscrapers like Singapore, but you’ll find Barcelona’s character in it’s old style buildings.

Unfortunately, I was only able to run once. I’m happy nonetheless. At least, I get to say, “I ran in Barcelona!” :)

Aside from the only run I managed, which was along the beach, Barcelona has other good running places. I was able to visit the other places on foot so I know it would have been a wonderful run.

If you happen to pass by Barcelona in the future, have your running gear ready. Make sure you run at these wonderful spots.

Avinguda Diagonal – Plaça de Francesc Macià, Barcelona, Spain

I saw a lot of people running all over the place! The sidewalks are wide enough for both pedestrians and runners. You don’t need to worry about bikers since they get their own bike lane.

Guilty Pleasures: Bico Recipe (Sticky Rice with Coconut Honey)

I remember as a child, my family would go the province to spend summer vacation. I always looked forward to the summer to play with my cousins.

I have two provinces. We either go to Bicol, where my mother comes from or to La Union, where my father’s family is.  Bicol and La Union are almost worlds apart. Agoo, La Union is about 5 hours drive to the North from Manila. Sorsogon in the Bicol region, on the other hand, would be a 12-hour drive East of Manila.

One of my favorite memories of the province would be the native delicacies. I remember a lot of kakanin (rice sweets) being served. The Philippines is a rice producing country that’s why you’ll always find rice on the dining table, even in the form of desserts.
